As part of a community of people who love God and care about each other, Sandals Church stepped into this crisis to receive and distribute donations of food and essential items to address the urgent needs of mountain community residents. Over 1,000 residents were served daily by this outreach.
Now that County programs and community charities are more able to do what they do, the focus of outreach pivots to provide spiritual, emotional, and economic relief.
The isolation, fear, waiting and wondering through this unheard-of experience took a toll on mountain community residents.
Volunteers have already played a key role in providing encouragement by talking to them and praying with them while delivering supplies or helping remove snow.
