Christmas tree lighting event, holiday jazz at La Sierra

In welcoming the 2025 holiday season, La Sierra University will offer three festive events during the first week of December that are free and open to the public – the university’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting festival, annual Candlelight Concert, and a holiday jazz performance.


Thursday, December 4:
The Christmas Tree Lighting event will be held Thursday, Dec. 4 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the Glory of God’s Grace sculpture plaza near the front of campus, offering musical performances, free food, games, the lighting of the campus Christmas tree, and other family activities.
La Sierra University’s long-running professional artist series, Pierce Street Jazz, will give a performance the same evening at 7 p.m. featuring noted performance and recording artist Ron Stout on trumpet. He will be joined by band members Henry ‘the Skipper’ Franklin, bass, and an NAACP Image Award winner; acclaimed musician and composer Theo Saunders on piano; and former “Tonight Show with Jay Leno” band member, Marvin ‘Smitty’ Smith on drums.
Pierce Street Jazz is free admission and will be held in Troesh Conference Center of the Zapara School of Business.
