Dr. Tom Levy of the University of California, San Diego, will present a topic of tremendous interest among archaeologists and students of antiquity about how early metal working changed the ancient world of hunting and gathering. How did the control of metal and other resources lead to the abandonment of hunting and gathering ways of life that had been so successful for so long? Based on excavations at the Shiqmim site, Levy's new book helps explain this enigma that has puzzled researchers for over 100 years.
