More About Our Internet Broadcast
We're happy to offer our broadcast as streaming audio for the world to hear! This type of audio is called "streaming" because, unlike files that are copied from the Internet and then listened to, we send the live audio in a continuous stream. No files are left on your computer when you stop listening. To make our broadcast available to the greatest number of people at good quality, we stream using the popular streaming mp3 format.
How to Listen Online
To listen to KSGN on the Internet, you need a computer that is properly set up to receive and play the audio stream. Here's what is required:
- Working sound card (hardware) installed in your computer
- Speakers or headphones connected to the "audio out" jack on your sound card
- Internet connection of good quality and at least 28.8kbps (minimum 32kbps recommended)
- Media player (software) installed on your computer
Sound Card & Speakers - If speakers are connected to your computer and you hear brief music when the computer starts, you probably have the necessary hardware installed and working. Most new computers come with sound hardware already installed.
Internet Connection - An Internet connection is required to listen to the live broadcast. A 28.8kbps modem connection is the minimum. Modems usually don't connect at their advertised speed, and slow connections will cause frequent interruptions. Connections of 32kbps or higher are recommended, which includes DSL, Cable and ISDN Internet access.
Media Player Software - There are several free streaming audio players available on the Internet. Players that will work with the KSGN Internet stream include WinAmp, RealPlayer, Windows Media Player, FreeAmp, Ultra Player and XMMS. To provide the KSGN broadcast at the best quality to the most people possible, we chose to stream the mp3 format. If you already have a player installed that supports streaming mp3 audio, you don't need to install another.
If you need to install a player to listen to KSGN, good players include Windows Media Player and WinAmp. If you use Windows Media Player, version 7 or higher must be installed to play our stream. The older versions will not work. You can find the version of Windows Media Player by starting the player and clicking on Help, then About. The version will be listed in the About window.
The 89.7 FM KSGN streaming audio is hosted by Keyway Internet Services.
